yes you would need a pci express mother board, check ebay, or newegg.com you should be able to find a good mother board for well under 150. be sure its compatible with all your other stuff, processor, and ram mostly.

good luck

motherboards go between less than $100 to $300 or even $400 or more. Depends on how and what you'll install into the case. AGP is way faster than PCI. I wouldn't change or upgrade to PCI from AGP.
Waste of time and money. Most motherboards have at least 3 PCI slots, at least 2 memory slot, plus 2-4 extra expansion slots underneath the PCI slots. You could try AMR slots in new motherboards.

PCI and PCI exhibit are thoroughly different and performance truly no longer something to do with one yet another, inspite of the similarity in call. you may not use PCI exhibit playing cards in PCI slots, and also you may not use PCI playing cards in PCI exhibit slots. they're completely incompatible, and the playing cards received't even slot in the slots. PCI is an particularly old bus widely used advanced decrease back in the early '90s, with a move speed of basically 33mHz. That replaced into decrease back in the days even as CPUs like the 486 somewhat broke 100mHz. PCI exhibit is a lot more desirable recent, with a move speed of a minimum of one million.5gHz (PCIe a million.0 spec). a lot swifter, more desirable sensible for use with fashionable quickly platforms. in case your workstation does no longer have PCI exhibit, you ought to guage upgrading to a sparkling gadget.

I hope you mean PCI Express and not regular PCI.
PCI-E > AGP > PCI
You'll need to get a new motherboard and depending on what CPU you have it could be anywhere from $50 to $100. Check out the 'graphics and displays' section of Tom's Hardware for recommendations on video cards.

By PCI I assume you're meaning pci express (agp to regular pci is actually a downgrade). You are going to need a new motherboard if your current one is AGP. I recommend the Asus A8N5X, it doesn't have fancy features, but it is reliable, has pci express, and built in sound. It is socket 939 for AMD processors, and goes for about $73 on newegg. If you have an intel based system, then the a8n5x is NOT for you.

A) if your MoBo (motherboard) has a PCI slot, then you are good to go. If not, buy a new board from Newegg.com. Just make sure that the new board uses the same type RAM, and the same CPU socket as your current board. I highly recommend the brand: Gigabyte. Easily under $150.

AGP to PCI isn't an upgrade dude. And both are quite outdated.

Edit: You will need a PCIe compatible mobo. What CPU and RAM you have? You might need to upgrade these also.

agp is better than PCI.. the bus speed it faster.. but if you are getting a new motherboard.. then get PCI-E board that is the newest interface of busses... go to tigerdirect.com for prices.... i am telling you now PCI is not very good...

the order for from best to worst is
PCI -e( express)
AGP
PCI
