Obama doesn't have to come apart.
The idea of a minority as PODUS will get Obama votes in the primaries. Unfortunately, Obama will not be the one coming apart. Liberals know that he cannot win the presidency. He's just a decoy to generate publicity for Dems. Independents and republicans (whom I call pubes) will not let a minority take that office in the near future.
All liberals, we have to make sure a republican does not take the presidency, except maybe to Mitt, who's really a liberal but realized he couldn't win it as one.

I only see him getting stronger, especially when he stood up for himself against the PM of Australia. Obama has only further proven he is strong, charismatic and consistent. I think this is just wishful thinking on your part.

I haven't noticed him losing his grip...
With that said, I really doubt he will win the Democratic candidacy because of his middle name. I just don't see it happening.
