It seems that most other groups of people have been enslaved at one time or another. Just curious.

By "Aryan", I mean someone of Northern European descent (blond, blue-eyed, the whole bit). I guess I should've used a more exact term (sorry).

Yes. During the Potato Famine the Irish earned their fare to America by being indentured servants.

Even American Indians stole women and children to act as slaves from each other's tribes before the Europeans arrived. All cultures have had slaves at one point or another.

Post cave-man? Lol, every culture is 'post cave-man.' What a ridiculously stupid comment. And all Europeans are 'white.' Anglo-Saxon is simply one European group among dozens and dozens. Also, the Vikings died out less than 1000 years ago, not 1500+ years ago. You need to study history before you answer questions like this. As has been noted, the Anglo-Saxons and Vikings were both Germanic peoples. They had the same overall cultural ties, the same concept of fealty to the chieftain (although the Anglo-Saxons developed more complex feudalistic ties), the same religious beliefs (both worshipped what we call Norse mythology, although many of the gods names varied slightly, such as the Viking Odin and the Anglo-Saxon Woden or Wotan), and both were eventually Christianized. The Anglo-Saxons hailed from northern Germany, while the Vikings came from Norway and Sweden. The Anglo-Saxons first invaded England after Rome withdrew in the 5th century AD and then established a unified kingdom in the 9th century under Alfred the Great. The Vikings first appeared in historical documents around 793 with an attack on Lindisfarne Abbey in England. They later sacked various southern European states like France, Italy, Sicily, the Byzantine Empire, and founded settlements in Russia, Iceland, and the Americas. The Anglo-Saxons were conquered in 1066 by William the Conqueror, himself a descendant of the Viking warlord Rollo. 1066 is also considered to be the end of the Viking Age, as it is the last successful attack on England. Harold II defeated Harald Haldrada at the Battle of Stamford Bridge, and the Norweigan Vikings retreated from England for good. Then Harold marched to Hastings, and two weeks later, was defeated by William.

"Aryan" is a high-caste group of Indians. Like, from India. Linguistically, the term is related to "Iran."

So, yeah, they might have been enslaved at some point.

Hitler took the term because he liked the idea of a "pure race." Racism exists in many cultures, and high-caste Aryans loved the idea of being the superior race in the Indian sub-continent. It's an ancient term from some kind of writing from there--I don't know what book or religion, exactly. Vedas or something. Don't pin me down on which book or art or whatever it came from.

Anglo-Saxon...can't think of when they were enslaved. They were a pretty harsh group and they dominated many cultures in their grab for land and wealth. I don't think they've been enslaved.

Or if they were, I'm sure they erased the history books as soon as they seized them from the people they conquered.

As far as "Aryan" like Hitler's idea of Aryan...there was a whole lotta squabbling in Europe for quite some time. I'm sure they were conquered at some point. Everybody got conquered by somebody.

Oh, and Irish aren't Anglo-Saxon. They're Gaels, Celts, maybe a wee bit of Pict. Ireland was one of the places the Anglo-Saxons conquered.

Don't call me Anglo-Saxon! I may be white, but I'm not Anglo-Saxon or Protestant. I'm not a WASP.

WASPs in the US are the Mayflower-types, who were all cranky about religious persecution in England. Not us poor Irish folk.

And as far as Irish servitude--Oliver Cromwell (in England) imprisoned, killed, or sent away as slaves over 2 million Irish people. Many of the people were sent to the Caribbean islands--it was called "being Barbadosed", after the island of Barbados.

They generally sickened and died under the harsh working conditions and awful tropical weather and diseases. Ever notice that the Jamaican accent sounds a little Irish?

That's where the lilt came from.

Oliver Cromwell was a bad, bad man.

Also, many Scots were relocated to Irish property in an effort to push Irish people out and make them weaker and less able to fight England. These people are Scots-Irish, who often immigrated to the mid-Appalachian region of the US.

But Irish people were plagued by Anglo-Saxons.

OF COURSE! You have heard of the Vikings, right? They enslaved lots of people from U.K, France and other "white" nations. Dublin, Ireland was founded by the Vikings as a slave trade town, and those slaves were white. AND, in England, most poor people were serfs (another name for slave) and had to serve their feudal lords LIKE SLAVES. They were used as possessions same as the black Africans who were brought to America.

Yes of course. Slaves have always existed. The ancient Romans and Greeks had slaves, for example

Well, sort of. Tenants in Ireland were essentially slaves to their landlords. Also the whole "serf" system in the Middle Ages in Europe was a sort of slavery.
