Percent of discount would be ...

Amount Discounted / Original Price

Percent Markup would be ...

The Dollar amount of the markup / Wholesale Price

So ....

Regular price=$35
Sale Price=$30

(35-30)/35 = 5/35 = .14285714... = 14.29% Discount

Wholesale=$180
Retail=$224
(224-180)/180 = 44/180 = .244444... = 24.44% Markup

Wholesale=$44
Retail=$59
(59-44)/44 = 15/44 = .340909... = 34.09% Markup

Regular=$24
Sale=$20
(24-20)/24 = 4/24 = .16666 ... = 16.66% discount

for the first question, 30/35 gives roughly 86% of the regular price, so a 14% discount, you could also do it by
(new price-old price)/old price which is (30-35)/35 or -0.14 roughly which is a 14% drop.

retail is 224 wholesale is 180 so
224/180=1.24 so a 24% mark up

wholesale 44 retail 59 so
59/44=1.34 so a 34% mark up

regular 24 sale 20 so
20/24=0.77 so 77% original price so a 23% discount

You need to subtract the sale price from the regular price, and then divided by the regular price. So, the answer for the first question is as followed:

(Sale Price - Regular Price) / Regular Price
= (30 - 35) / 35
= -5 / 35
= -14.29% (round to 2 decimal place)

Since the answer is a negative, this is a a discount of 14.29%. If it is a positive, then it is a mark-up.

You can use the same equation to answer the rest of your questions. Hope this helps.

hey thank goodness someone else out there is having trouble with this i mean i dont get it at all but i think you do like change/original like 35-30=5 then 5/35 ..Divide and move your decimal over and it would be a like 14.30% discount
