Alot of rumors said it would be released in January, obviously that didn't happen. Now they are saying May, maybe June. Is there any official word or just alot of rumors?

Official.Because i brought one at the cingular store.I went there to buy one for my girlfriend and me.They are only for cell till july.Then in july they will be sold in the states.They are here early because of the agreement with japan with cingular.And since in japan its released early cingular has it.

The iPhone is being released in the United States in June 2007. January was a complete rumor. It just got revealed in early January.

Apples iPhone.. i say mid summer.. hopefully..
and no.. japan probably wouldnt have it first. its Apple Designed in California.. not Japan..
i bet Apples gonna make a worldwide release..
