Mr. Wolfe was shot in the corner of the right eye, close to his nose with a nail gun while searching a contractors trailer during a murder investigation. He was in the trailer looking around, when a door to a locker opened, and the suspect shot him. He radioed Delco who knew there was no time to wait for EMT's. Delco took Wolfe to the ER room in his hummer, where the nail was successfully removed. However, they keep bringing it up because there can be problems in the long term with his vision. The type of nail gun used was a Paslode gas cartridge nailer.

In the episode "Nailed" Wolfe is impaled through his eye with a nail from a nail gun at a crime scene, which leaves him with a number of vision problems. In the episode "One Of Our Own" a FBI agent brings up the possibility that Wolfe has keratitis, a condition that causes impaired vision.
Season 4, episode 8
