No she is not ungrateful. I go through the same thing every christmas with my father. I always tell him not to buy me clothes because it's always something i would never be caught dead in.
But nevertheless he always buys me clothes that i end up giving to the salvation army. Why did you buy her something she already had? Now she's going to have to make room for something she doesn't need. Next time listen and spend your money more wisely.

were you the one not listening? Maybe she was hurt that you didn't care enough to listen and get her something she didn't have. If she told you and you didn't listen you got the gift not for hersake, maybe? Tell her you're sorry you didn't hear her . that you will try to listen closer next time but that you think her response was also un-kool.Ask her If next time maybe you could go together to get her gift or just accept what you give cause her response made you feel hurt. Communicate in a peaceful tone and not a I want to fight tone. Things will work out for the best either way.
