The cherry barbs are OK if they were the only fish

the tiger barbs will get too big with 4 of them in there, plus they are aggressive fin nippers. If you have not seen aggression yet, it is because they are WAY overcrowded

The serpae tetras are OK if they were the only fish

von rio tetras are OK if they were the only fish

You do not have a black fin shark the does not grow big, because the SMALLEST SPECIES OF BLACK FIN SHARK NEEDS AT LEAST 90 GALLONS!!!

upside down cats need minimum 20 gallons.

kuhlie loaches need at least 20 gallons for 6 of them

good, you are returning the mollies, tak back the sharks, loaches, upside down cats, tiger barbs, and reduce to 1 school of tetra OR the cherry barbs

What kind of pleco do you have?
There are few species that can live in a 10 gallon. Even then, they produce a lot of waste and you should only have 2-3 small fish with them.

You can keep all of those fish, as long as you go get a 125 gallon aquarium ASAP.

I've had fish tanks for many years (30-50 gallon tanks) and I can say that although you have a pretty array of fish, you have too many in a 10 gallon tank. The reason for this is that the fish excrete waste that affects the chemical balance of teh tank...if you haev too many for the size of the tank, you will start seeing fish die off as the tank becomes more and more unbalanced as the time goes on. Also, did you check to make sure that you got all community fish? I have never owned upside cats or sharks, but I seem to remember they were a little on the aggressive side, while the other fish I know are community fish. You may lose some of the less aggresive fish to these more aggressive ones once they get use to the tank and start getting territorial over space & food.

Fish tanks are great to have and you can learn alot about ecosystems by having them. Enjoy & good luck!

I just saw your footnote...get rid of the snails!!! They do way more damage than good in a take and they are hemaphrodidic (all of them can have babies) and they will take over the tank. They produce large amounts of amonia in their waste and will destroy the balance of your tank once they start to reproduce! There are other fish that will help clean the tank that will not do nearly the amount of damage as the snails.

Also, you really need to research your fish...or at least go to a reputable store and ask a sales person. It seems like you may be mixing fish that are not compatable. There are community fish, slightly aggressive fish and very aggressive fish...you don't want to mix incompatable fish because they will only end up killing each other.

I'm doing the math in my head while reading through your laundry list giving an average size for what I'm guessing you have right now, and that's not even allowing for full growth size. The smallest pleco grows to 4 inches so, you have to at least allow for that. Black sharks can grow to 12 inches, but I only allowed for around 4 right now. And then applying the 1 inch of fish per 1 gallon of water rule, I have a total of about 71 inches. 71 doesn't divide into 10 gallons very well. You are intensely overcrowded! The compatibility is not even an issue because they will either all die from poor water quality from overcrowding because they kill each other trying to find a little breathing room. You must return all but 10 inches worth of fish or get a 70 gallon aquarium and plan on getting an even bigger one in a couple of years.

Way to many fish for a 10 gallon tank

Sounds like it is a LOT of fish for 10 gallons. I think that's probably a lot for 20 gallons.

UNBELIEVEABLY overstocked love.

no matter how small the plec, the amount of waste it produces is too much for a tiny 10 gallon for starters.

black fin sharks? what are these? not bala sharks are they?! i don't know any "shark" that stays under 5". and balas get to around 12" or more.

ooo i'll get back this.

great mix of fish, but like the rest have said, it is overstocked, the amount of fish you have would do well in a 30 gallon tank

also very few plecos don't grow large
