I am early in my pregnancy and have experienced some light cramping is it normal to feel these. With my daughter I dont remember getting them, but that pregnancy was High Risk so my mind was on other things. Has anyone else experienced cramps during early pregnancy? If so what can I do to relieve them?

There is some pain that occurs in early pregnancy as the round ligaments stretch and grow - this would happen earlier in a second pregnancy than they did before. It wouldn't feel like cramping, though, so much as a pulled muscle or ligament.

If you're feeling menstrual cramp type pains, you need to call your doctor to be sure that it's ok. Be prepared to describe the pain very specifically.

It's probably ok, as long as you're not having any spotting, but it's better to be safe than sorry.

I have had a completely normal and healthy pregnancy and am 8 months along now. Early on though i was spotting alot and cramping as well. Some of the time the cramps felt like gas pains then it felt like just menstrual cramps as well. It hurt so bad i went to the hospital almost every month for four months cuz i thought i was losing the baby. Every time i went they did an internal exam to check the cervix and every time the same answer..you are fine quit freaking out and go home. So i did. To relieve the pain however, i found applying moderate heat helps, just like you would with a period cramp, Or if you are standing (i worked on my feet full time during my entire pregnancy) sit down as soon as you feel one coming on. The doctors told me only to go to the clinic if the cramps got so bad i could not stand them or if you start bleeding bright red heavy blood. Chances are its nothing like mine was and you will still have a healthy happy baby! hope this helps ~Stephanie

When you go in for your prenatal care ask your doctor. My mom told be about cramping until her second month, she used to take baths all the time to relieve the pressure and relax. She also had really bad gas pains when she was pregnant with me back in the day.

The cramps could be gas or food related, do you feel them in the front or back? If it's around your back then it's probably gas, if so then take some gas-x and call it a night.

But be sure to talk to your doctor. If the cramps get more severe then go to the hospital!!! A little bit of cramping is normal since the uterus is in the beginning stages of it's metamorphosis around the child. But if it gets heavier than normal you need to see your doctor!

I hope everything goes well for you!

Any cramping early or late of the pregnancy should be alerted immediately. Check out with your doctor now so that he may be able to do an ultrasound or certain tests to rule out anything dangerous causing the cramps.

If it is really early in your pregnancy it may be the egg implanting in your uterine wall. If it is followed by any bleeding there may be a problem. I remember distinctly having cramps and thinking I might not be pregnant and may be I was getting my period. But it was just the ligaments in my uterus stretching. In any case, I would consult your doctor.
