My family is coming down next week to take me to dinner, giving me a break from college food. I'd like to go someplace that is super good but not more than $20ish a person. The other thing is, I am a picky eater, I don't like vegetables, spicy food, etc. So it has to be a restaurant with lots of options, or where you can ask for things not to be put in your dish. I have tried using city search but it is difficult to know what I'm getting myself into.

In general I tend to like Italian, Chinese, and Mexican food. I absolutely LOVE mongolian grills, but I've been to GOGO, and wasn't terribly impressed. There is another one called Changs, but I don't know if I want to risk it since it got about the same reviews as GOGO.

McCormick and Schmicks is a pretty good place and it's usually 20ish dollars! There is also a Changs Mongolian grill in Gresham, Oregon. It's only abour 30minutes from dwntown Portland!!!

The Old Spaghetti Factory has pretty decent Italian. So does Romano's Macaroni Grill. But neither are very "Portland," since they are national chains. Any of the McMenamin's pubs are excellent, if you like pub food. McCormich & Schmick's is good and very "Portland."

You should learn to eat more things, you don't know what you're missing. I used to be a picky eater and then I realized how boring it was.

Pastini is sparkling and scrumptious. Dishes are comparatively lower priced (below $10) and parts are adequate to fill you up without over-stuffing you. Its an area chain so there are adequate places to make it accessible (SE twenty first and branch is the only I widely used), yet no longer one of those number of that it's going to develop into an old Spaghetti production unit or Olive backyard-- there are a range of serious eating places on the city that you shouldn't ought to hotel to those.

Drive to Lake Oswego and go to Amadeus. It is the kind of place you can talk with the chef and he can prepare a meal any way you choose. Nice, small dining rooms (used to be a house in the 50's) so it can be quiet. Some nights they have a piano player to enjoy.

I'd say hit someplace casual like the Widmer pub or PF Chang's. Nicer restaurants will change dinners up for you, but it kinda ruins the point.
