Star Tours is an older ride - but it is a virtual movement attraction. It moves all over the place, but people typically enjoy it. Disney has been trying to get Lucas to approve the rights to update the attraction, but so far, they haven't made any advances on it. It is very much like the Back to the Future Ride at Universal Studios.
Rock N' Roller Coaster is my favorite ride in that entire park. It is Disney World's only upside down attraction. It would be appropriate for an 8 year old, provided coasters don't scare her too much. It is all indoors and is so fun! A different Aerosmith song plays with each coaster ride.
Here are some other fun things to check out at the Disney Studios:

Tower of Terror
Beauty & the Beast Live Stage Show
Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular Show
Backlot Tour
Muppet Vision 3D
Animation Tour
Voyage of the Little Mermaid Show
Fantasmic!

Restaurants:
50s Prime Time Cafe
Sci Fi Drive in Theater
Mama Melrose's Restorante Italiano

Avoid the Narnia Exhibit - it is a complete waste of time. Playhouse Disney is so cute, but an 8 year old might be too old for it.

There are more hidden Mickey's at this park, so be sure to look everywhere - especially in the architecture! Have fun!

Star Tours is a motion ride. Basically, you sit inside of the little car, the floor moves around so that you feel like you are moving to whatever is showing on the screen. It is similar to Back to the Future, the main difference in my opinion is that Star Tours doesn't seem quite as bumpy and the seats are more comfortable. I think that this ride is suitable for an 8-year old, as long as she doesn't mind these kind of rides. If she enjoys Back to the Future, I don't think Star Tours will be a problem.

Rock n roller coaster is an indoor roller coaster. It is a lot of fun as well. The thing with this ride is that you 0 to 60 in 2.8 seconds, so it shoots you out pretty fast. You are in the dark (may be a little scary for younger kids) during the ride, the theme is that you are watching Aerosmith record an album and then invite you to one of their concernts. So you are riding in a limo, racing to get to the show. I've been on many roller coasters and I find this one to be very easy going, I've been on "kiddy-coasters" that aren't as calm as this one, but that is just my opinion. But, the g's on the ride can get pretty intense, it is the thing that tends to bother the most people (I have never been affected much) The only thing is that this ride is short, only about 3 minutes and the wait can be pretty long, so it is almost always a good choice for Fastpass. This ride may be appropriate for an 8 year old, but I would do so with caution.

Have a great time in Disney!

I personally don't care for the Star Tour attraction. I haven't been on it since the first time I went to Walt Disney World when I was 11. It made me really dizzy. I didn't feel too great afterwards. Your daughter may enjoy it, though. I'm not sure.

However, like Beach Gal, the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith is my favorite ride at the Disney - MGM Studios. It's so awesome! The take-off is such an adrenaline rush! It's pretty amazing. And there's no large hills, but there are a couple corkscrews. I love it!

I would say both of these attractions are appropriate for an eight-year-old girl, as long as she feels up to it.

Hope I could help! Have a magical time!

star tours is one of those motion rides where you sit in the seat and the whole seating area is moved around to simulate the image on screen. and the aerosmith ride is a roller coaster, but when it starts it shoots off right away at almost top speed instead of gradually getting faster. as for an 8 year old, i know some that would like it, some that wouldnt. you know your kid better than anyone, so you would be a better judge of that. if there is time, ride it first and you will have a first hand experience of what to expect.

Both are fine for an 8 year old. Star Tours is ok, I would not call it the ultimate. There is a little motion, kind of like those roller coster things you can try in the mall. The effect is gained while you watch a screen and the "room" is tilted. Not one of my favorites, but my son loves it.
