Yes NikolaTesla came up with it in the early 1900's(many others have also and are either dead or locked up in soloitary confinement for the rest of their lives). But J.P. Morgan pulled the plug/funding on it by saying, "What good is something that I can't put a meter on." Greed is the reason whe have to pay. Give your money to another and you have given your power to another. Furthermore, after he died J Edgar Hoover classified his work pertaining to free energ and weapons. He came up with the idea for cell phones, SDI defense, free enery, and even weather control. All this was made so top secret it eneded up in the Vatican, so that no government can access it.
Also, if the govenment has access to UFO technology then they have reverse engineered Zero-point energy. On cubic centimeter of empty space has enough energy to run the world for a day. But why for free. Take the R out of free and you got FEE.

Research Dr. Nikola Tesla, Edwin Vincent Gray, and Dr. Peter Lindemann

The power of your mind is free. so far as energy is concerned, no nothing is "free" as such. Work will always have to be done to create energy and people will always want money to perform such works. I guess you could create your own energy using your body's stored chemical energy transfer it into kenetic energy to power a dynamo or similar which could transform that into another form of potential energy then u could use it to power whatever which would be free in a way but it would probably be more efficient to just go to work and earn money to give to people who do it all for you. and also remember it costs to power yourself, FOOD

Nothing is for free, especially energy. You might see sunlight, waves and wind but it will cost you to capture them.

Not free but renewable. Wind, solar etc can be harnessed but that means upfront investments.
