I am guessing you are referring to Mazda cars. (just a guess mind) The new Mazda Rx-8 is very reliable and is good for 100,000 miles IF you change the oil and filter every 5,000 miles (good quality oil only)

In theory they should be more reliable as they have essentially 3 moving parts. In practise this is not always the case as you say rotor tips wear.Think if the design was a true success many others other than NSU and Mazda would have adopted the idea. They are also not very economical on fuel and lubricants.

how long is a piece of string?rotary engines get there power higher in the rev range so its fair to say they are gonna get thrashed around.its all about how you drive and how you look after them.
