Without any shadow of doubt the charity RND monies should remain in this country for our own children along with Lotto money profit (which are vast).

I know that there was true poverty in America. I've seen it when I was an EMT and rendered aid to people without electricity or heat or a phone to call 911 on. With our "Open Borders" policy now, things have changed somewhat.
I now do income taxes for one of the "big three" tax companies and see people coming in without a Social Security Card that have been here for 4 or 5 years and want to pay taxes so they can become "Americans." The income for the years worked is usually less than $5000.00. They have earned the income using someone elses SSN or have just recently filed for an ITIN and have no real record of wages or taxes paid. There is no way a family of 5 can live on this wage when I can barely scrape by on $24,000.00 in a manufactured home.
What we see as poverty just might be self-inflicted in order to hide from the Immigration Laws that have protected this country. Much of the "Poverty Studies" are income based, on "reported income" only. The Illegal jobs and the under the table paychecks do not figure into the equasion.
One family may tell the surveyers that they live in a residence but 5 or 6 more people may share the place and help pay the rent or mortgage and bills. Everybody carries cell phones nowadays so talk is cheap just as the surveys meanings are.
Yes, I think we should keep the money garnered from our income tax system inside our own borders and used for our own American citizens. If an impoverished nation needs our help, then allow them to learn how to help themselves by allowing private business to operate there and develop an infrastructure of manufacturing or labor so the people can be taught to lead useful lives and not allowed to sit on thier butts as the "Gimme gimmes" have learned to do here!

Pauline I think you are dead right .I think all lotto money should be spent in this country. What they do with money from Red Nose Day is up to them because I think people that donate to that realise most will go overseas.
But I've always thought that the lotto should be for us I also think there should be some boxes down the side of the tickets so you can tick where you want your money to go ie.Health,Sports,Roads, even towards building new prisons but give us the choice.

The report you refer to in which the UK is 21st is not specifically looking at the amount of money people have, or have not. It is about the overall quality of life on offer to young people in the "developed world", looking at health, attitude/psychology, education, etc.
Money is not the sole issue, as Britain is the 5th biggest economy on the planet and its residents are in very wealthy relative to other nations.
Being born and brought up in the North of England, and having spent time living in Denmark, it is easy to see that here in the UK there is a general lack of responsibility for children.
Whereas elsewhere people take part in society to a greater level, encouraging links between age groups, instead of just watching telly and not caring/knowing what the kids are doing.
The 'stop giving money to africa' comments are exceptionally stupid, and highlight the reasons why the UK is becoming a culturally poor place to raise children, which are a general ignorance about the world and a belief that money is the answer to everything. (leading onto another discussion about whether monetary aid is a long term solution)

I think the first thing we should do to tackle this is pay a lot of the money that is given in benefits as food and clothing vouchers. There are far to many people that put having a few pints, or buying cigarettes or drugs, before feeding and clothing their children. By benefits I also mean payments for child support by absent parents. It's no wonder a lot of absent fathers don't want to pay when they know that most of the money they do pay is not spent on their children.

I don't agree. What people call poverty here, would be called rich in some countries. It breaks my heart to see small children with bloated stomachs, starving in some of these countries abroad, and us saying charity begins at home.

fair comment, its also time to dtop ruining the adults who the kids need, and poisoning them on drugs, and brainwashing them and betraying their country, filling them with lies and desception. the money goes abroad for showmanship purposes, they dont give a hoot realy, especialy about our own in our own land.

I agree. it seems that the reason people (in America) want to help Africa, and fight AIDS, is because they feel guilty about enslaving us for so long. (I am of African American heritage-you just can't tell by looking at me.)
Well, now we're part of the USA, we wanted our independence so badly, let's help those who need it. In our own home.

enable me address the topic matters one after the other. Poverty international wide is correct to preparation and literacy. For some unknown reason we've not been waiting to make investments sufficient into preparation or perhaps if little we've invested, has no longer been efficient in any respect. Many decision makers in India ( politicians) themselves aren't from now on literate and how can we anticipate them to be dedicated to this reason. truly, it style of feels to be of their pastime if human beings aren't from now on knowledgeable. Now coming to toddler labour, this probability will be eliminated on one hand through strict enforcement of regulation ( even resorting to arrest of folk) and on the different hand through coming up a situation in which children aren't from now on accessible for artwork. this can take position in trouble-free words even as authorities makes it obligatory for children to attend college and carry the state and the mothers and fathers both in charge.
