I think there should be a Singles Day!! Not everyone is ready to be in an relationship and they need a day that they hopefully shouldn't regret. There is nothing wrong with being single. It gives you a since of space and being free. It's nice just to have time to please yourself.

they should just do away with valentines day... as soon as you get into a groove with your diet your faced with all this new candy... and the all these people that go oh im so in love when hey don't even know the meaning of the word.... they shouldn't have a single's day, because if there was no valentines day, there would be no need for it, to make us single people less crappy.

I have the other 364 days as a singles day. There is always someone else feels lonely THAT day. Find them.

Every year I have to be reminded of Valentine's Day's alter-ego, "SAD," or Singles Awareness Day. Since losing my "single" status, I've been struggling with recalling what SAD even stood for. I apologize, I'm not writing this to boast my non-single status, but merely want to write about an alternative, Go Love Anyone Day, or GLAD.

In a world torn by war, fueled by greed, and confused by love in the form of sex, I'd like to propose GLAD as a new Valentine's Day observation, something enjoyed by those single and not-so-single. With GLAD as a new type of celebration, there are a few points that must be followed through in order to capture the spirit of love. (NOTE: I am not condoning promiscuity by saying "go love anyone".)

First, love should be unconditional. We must not "love" people because they did this for us or did that for our kids. Rather, love must be given selflessly, not selfishly. Love should be a goal we try to achieve every day. For if we cannot love, then how are we expected to know how to be loved?

Second, love should not be reserved for the closest of friends and family. I often make this mistake of segregating people I'm not "close to." When we think of love as a strong feeling, we often reserve it for those who deserve it - namely, those who are always there for us, more or less. On GLAD, try loving in the sense of "at least liking someone" merely because you have no reason to hate. Hate is usually driven by ignorance, anyway, and you're not a fool.

Third, smile. In terms of the "anyone" factor in GLAD, try smiling at someone. You never know who needs it, right?

With these three points, I guess I'm making GLAD appear to be a risky, open yourself up, be vulnerable day. But for those of you seeking love in your life, isn't it a risk to open yourself up and be vulnerable to those you wish to have a relationship with, anyway? So again, don't dwell on your single status, and for couples, don't be selfish - love is for everyone. Get GLAD.

We do have a singles day - its the day your friend is on the phone crying to you because their boyfriend/girlfriend did somethingto upset them or its the day you go spend your entire salary on one thing and there is noone to tell you off for it!!
Embrace singleness! Its exciting!!
