Most people can say "right" or "left" w/out giving it much forethought. I must pause and think which is my right and which is my left. I feel pretty silly when I do this, but It's something I have always had trouble with. I am just curious if this is some sort of development problem in one of my lobes, or some people just need to think about it (like how some people can whistle and some just can't)

Good question. I have to think about it too and then I might still get it wrong. Mom said to was inherited from Dad.

I do the same thing because I learned my "Right" and "Left" later in childhood. I am right handed, so whenever anyone asks right or left I think of which hand I "write" with, which is also my "right" - and base any directionals off of that. I hope that makes sense.

It could have something to do with female vs. male ability to picture imagery mentally (I think that is related to spatial vision...). But really I think it has to do with how early you learned it and if it was taught to you or if you figured it out yourself.

Your aren't silly.

I have the same issue. I blame my kindergarten teacher, she always taught us the hand you write w is the right one - well thats nice but I am left handed! I should sue - just kidding.

This doesn't have to do with lobes, it has to do with hemispheres. Your hemispheres are connected and if you're right handed you're left brained and if you're left handed you're right brained. Not exactly sure why this happens, but it does have to do with right and left hemispheres of your brain.

I do that too! I always have to be like, "I write with this hand, so this is my right, which makes this one my left...I think...Hmm...Wait I messed up! I write with my right..." LOL, okay I exagerated a little, but still...
