In hanging a few curtains in my new home I came across a problem. In some locations the anchor and screw provided with the drapes worked just wonderfully, but in other places the anchor would push into the drywall and not allow the screw to fit snuggly into the anchor and secure the bracket. It doesn't seem to matter if there's a stud or not in the places it worked. I was just wondering if someone knew what was going on and could give me a solution.
Thanks!!

I've encountered the same trouble. It appears that some windows have a thin sheet of metal under the drywall that encases the window frame. This can be tough to penetrate. Recommend pre-drilling with a metal bit on a strong drill, shouldn't need an anchor since the metal sheeting is usually sturdy enough.
Hope this helps.

The only thing I can think of is you're not using the right size drill for the anchors you're using?
The hole you must first drill should be such that the anchor is a snug fit so that you need a hammer to drive it in flush with the wall.
(The drill size should be on the package of anchors or in the instructions for your hangers).
Oh and, by the way... if you hit a stud, you don't need an anchor!!!
