Move back. We don't need you here anyway. Try and take as many with you as possible too please.

I'd encourage you to learn as much about Jamaica and the Dominican Republic as possible (i.e., languages, culture, politics, population, foods, climate, traditions, etc.). If you're in college, I'd consider a semester-abroad. There are lots of genealogy websites that can help trace your family roots. Travel there and do research in their archives for your family history. Don't let anyone deter you from your quest. Best wishes.

Why what's so wrong about your life now,i think you'll find you have little or nothing in common with your roots and can only relate to the lifestyle that you were born into,in any case if you are of caribbean descent how do you think your roots are in Africa?

I'm a black american who lived in ethiopia for 2 years. The Ethiopians called me "forengi" (foreigner) just like they did all the whites. Our african roots are long gone I'm afraid.

read Frantz Fanon and Marcus Garvey -- two incredible Caribbean philosophers. They will point you in the right direction. Also let your hair go natural and get some locs. Listen to Damien "jr gong" Marley. listen to reggae in general. But focus first on the Marleys with Bob being the king and Ziggy hier to the throne.

Since you are Dominican and Jamaican, you are not African. Who would want to go to Africa anyway? Disease, filth, AIDS, murder, rape, goats with blown out tails, kids huffing jenkem.
Go to the Dominican Republic and/or Jamaica.

Boxy, put a shoe in it! Who died and made you God? I want to know? Get a life, will you? Time is short.

Bless all those here posting their thoughts and considerations. Amen.

Don't LISTEN to all the racist just ignore them they don't have any thing better to do girl... anyways i think you should try to trace your roots back and see exactly where your roots originate.. and if you want to go there and explore them then you should... forget all the stereotypes of Africa... I mean they have huge cities and technology just like in America.... I mean these people that are saying Africa is just filled with filth and disease... they ain't never been there so how do they know plus Africa is huge way bigger then America... there is room for the wealthy and poor.. and lots of land.. plus huge cities....
