Ironically, we were discussing this last night at work. Our candy vending business got moved into a new room at an arena where we work and there was an old poster of a clown. My boss said she was always freaked out by clowns. I will tell you what I told her, look at the mouth of a clown. If the corners are rounded he is a happy, circus clown. If the corners are sharp, he is a scary type clown. I read this once in a book about John Wayne Gacy. he was a serial killer who worked as a clown. I would also recommend not watching scary movies like "It". Also, as I always say, I am not a professional. If you are truly concerned about this fear, please seek some professional help.

I don't have a clown phobia - i.e. go screaming from the room; but I don't like them. I get nauseous when I see a clown. Since I was a kid. It's like they're trying to hide who they really are and who they really could be is frightening.

I read "It" and it sure didn't help my dislike of clowns, but it didn't make it worse. After reading that book I avoided walking near gutter openings. (Ugh, and here you go making me think about that again! My stomach just flip-flopped and my heart raced a little.) I stopped reading all horror stories after that book. Won't see a horror movie either. All for the better. I'm no longer afraid to walk in the dark by myself. (Of course, I don't live in the city.)

My toddler saw a clown and said, "Look at that ugly woman." :) I'm not teaching him fear of clowns, but he sure doesn't have any books with clowns and will never have a b-day party with one!!

I'm not afraid of clowns but they bother me on some level I can't explain. I don't think I've ever seen a funny clown. They're like these weird European caricatures held over from a time long past.

Shoot...now you've got me thinking about clowns. :-(

Pennywise was a sissy, just wait till you run across Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope of The Insane Clown Posse. Those guys'll cut ya head off and kick it around on the floor.

clowns can be scary, yes I agree with you , especially the one in IT.

I am not afraid of it, but I do not ever think Clowns are funny.. not even McDonald.

I have no idea why people think clowns are to be funny one. That got me!
