Water fleas, or daphnia, are a favorite food of bettas Theyreally have nothing to do with fleas, they are just called that because it the jerky motion they mave when they swim.

Mostly get eaten. Honestly the only way you could harm a betta with Daphnia is if they were a massive amount in the tank. The betta might over eat. Or they would dry from lack of food and over load the tank's biological filter.

I feed my bettas (and other fish) daphnia, aka water fleas, whenever one of the cultures produces enough daphnia to do a feeding. Some folks swear that a regular diet of daphnia enhances betta colors. It gives the fish something living and moving to hunt down and eat, keeps them alert and active. The hard crunchy outer shell helps add fiber to their diet so they don't become constipated. My bettas do some interesting arabesque swimming while hunting down daphnia.
