The only law I know of that addressed this issue was the rule that affected stoves from 1983.
"This year Oregon enacted rules governing stoves, committing itself to setting standards on emissions from wood stoves and coal stoves by next July 1, and, beginning two years later, requiring that all stoves meet those standards. Washington State and others are watching how the Oregon law is used. "

There is a new proposal that would involve slash burning and on what can be burned in wood stoves, but nothing on limiting the direct use of the stoves that I have heard about.

"Facing a dilemma created by population growth in Oregon's rural communities, the state Forestry Board will soon decide at what point small towns become big enough to merit protection from the smoke of logging industry slash burning. State environmental officials say once a town reaches 10,000 population, state forestry officials should automatically take extra precautions before allowing timber companies to burn near the town's boundaries."

'State law bans burning anything in fireplaces other than wood or paper needed to start a blaze in the state of Washington. But south of the Columbia River, burn season is open season on any fuel you like. In Oregon it's legal to burn garbage, plastic, paint, chemicals, even animal carcasses. ...This year, D.E.Q. is asking lawmakers in Salem to pass a law restricting what people may burn in fireplaces and wood stoves. "

Considering the number of wood buring stoves in Oregon and the ruling in 1977 that wood burning stoves could be the only source of heat in a home, I don't think they will be able to restrict the use of wood burning stoves. And with the current pellet shortage, more people in my area are wishing they hadn't closed off those old stoves as a backup option.
