because the with the furor over iraq, in reality its all a mask for the power grab of 06. if you looked at the first hundred hours..the pelosi/reid regieme didnt give a rats rear about iraq..it was all about the democratic power grab and reinstalling tax and spend to the point of giving non tax paying us territorial possesions congressional voting rights so they could improve on the 51-49 mandate...its enough to turn your stomach, but unfortunately is the reality of left wing extremists.

Liberated from whom? The Shi'ites? The Sunnis? The corrupt Iraqi politicians? What do you think these people are, displayed Orange County Republicans? Comments like this show the total lack of understanding the right wing has about the middle east. And this is why that idiot Bush has got us in this mess.

And to answer your question, I don't give a damn about "liberating Baghdad". Not one square foot of "liberated Baghdad", is worth one American life.

Ummm, since when does America decide what liberation is and when it is needed. I think we were better as isolationists when we minded our own business and focused on domestic problems. It's all nice and dandy that we want to "help" other people but how can we forget that our social security system is falling apart and that almost half of America cannot afford mere health insurance? I also don't understand why America feels that their way of life should be everyone else's way of life. If the middle easterns want to be "liberated" they should ask just like the Hungarians did in World War II.

It really has nothing to do with the liberation of Baghdad or even the war itself or national security - it has to do with preventing any kind of success from a republican administration and regaining the White House.

Ealier poster says "when I bring up the obvious point that millions of people have now been given the opportunity to live in freedom" Well look at how well they're doing with that opportunity, bombing eachother to smithereens, why can't you grasp that this was ill planned, our leaders didn't even understand the different sects, and some of us just don't think American lives and Treasure are worth squandering while these idiots try & figure out what the hell they're going to do to rule themselves, I quite frankly don't give a rats patootie about the damn Iraqi's, none of us would give a care about the middle east if it weren't for the oil, we've had over 30 years to develop stratigies to rid ourselves of this dependance and we've squandered them and I mean it if it weren't for the oil reserves would we really care at all

They are vested in losing that's the only way they can win politically. If Iraq is liberated they have no issue to blame on the republicans, and their house of cards falls all around them.

Conservatives like Bush trust the capacity of the Middle Easterners for self rule. Liberals do not. Here's the proof.

Bush once made the remarkable statement about "the soft bigotry of low expectations". I want you to remember that quote. Think about what he is saying. I've talked to a lot of liberals about the war in Iraq, and when I bring up the obvious point that millions of people have now been given the opportunity to live in freedom rather than tyranny, they mindlessly object with silly, irrelevant arguments.

If I chide them enough, and make them hot under the collar, they will finally lose all control and exclaim, "Oh come on, you don't really expect that a bunch of volatile, irrational Arabs can handle democracy, do you?"

Whoa......! That's what liberals really think. They don't have confidence in Middle Easterners. They belive Arabs and Persians are ignorant and backward, incapable of ruling themselves without a strong dictator like Saddam keeping them in line.

Bush did not denigrate the people of the Middle East with the "soft bigotry of low expectations". Unlike the Democrats, he believes in their potential. He does not arrogantly belive that they can't handle democracy.

Liberals only see a bunch of scary, fist pumping ragheads.
