You would go to Portugal just like you would go to any country in Europe. In general, when people talk about Europe they always mention England, France, Germany and Spain. What happen to the other countries in Europe, In this case Portugal? I have noticed that usually Portugal is underrated when it comes to travel. I have been there a few times and I have always enjoyed it. Friendly people, great food, amazing wine and a great deal of history and monuments. And if you are a Summer, beach fanatic, you will be amazed with what they offer. A small country indeed, but has a lot to offer. From north to south, not forgetting Madeira and the Azores, you will have a great time.

I have never been there but would be interested in Portugal because of it's rich history and old buildings and streets. I saw a travel film where a fado (Portugese folk singing) restaurant was featured and the singing was very beautiful even though I don't speak Portugese. I would look forward to trying some of the food and though it might not be familiar, Portugal is still a western country so I would imagine it would be ok maybe great. I understand that they have some really good cheese.

I would love to visit Portugal - it's next in my travel list. My g/parents are from there also. I would like to spend 2 weeks there just to have a taste of the life, people and of course food and wine. Also the culture, nature and untouched history is something to marvel. People usually go to Europe to see England, Italy and France. But honestly, Portugal should be up there. It's a "forgotten" country by many.

There are so many wonderful reasons to visit Portugal!
History, food, the wine, friendly people, beautiful beaches, not forgetting the wonderful islands also, the Azores and Madeira........I was born in the Azores and always wondered why my father insisted in Imigrating to another country.........but I make a point of visiting often.

I'd go to Portugal (I'm there - here - anyways) for the food and the wine, for its history, for the shoreline, for the differences in such a relatively small country fron north to south and to see places like Lisbon, Porto, Coimbra, Tomar, Ãbidos and Nazaré. I'd also visit the Algarve, down south, if I were into golf, cause it has the best golf resorts in Europe (no, I'm not being a nationalist, it's true).
