My friend is a diabetic, and she wants me to ask this question. She's nearly 14 and is over 100 pounds, is the reason she hasn't gotten her period yet because she's diabetic?

My best friend is diabetic. She has problems with her period and was put on birth control. Diabetes can have an effect on menstruation and is usually treatable. She should see her doctor.
Also some girls get it a little later than others.
Tell her good luck!

She could also search the juvenile diabetes research foundation, they often have hotlines to call.

Not everybody starts their period before age 14; I didn't start my period until I was nearly 15, and I'm not diabetic. I don't know if diabetes have any affect on periods, but she probably shouldn't worry about it until she's older.

Hope this helps!

different females get their periods at diffent ages just because all of your freiends all ready got theirs does not mean she has some thing wronge with her she sould talk to her mother and set an appointment with a gyno to make sure that there is no other medical reason that can be treated as to why she hasn't started her period

No that has nothing to do with it. It just depends as to how soon you get your period. If she doesn't get it after she turns 16 then she may want to see a doctor but until then she is just fine.
