have 1995 ford contour 2.5 V-6 Automatic when I lift front wheels off of ground trans works fine sit car on all four wheels feels like it wants to pull forward or backwards but doesn't whats the problem?

SOUNDS LIKE THE SEALS HAVE GONE OUT THEY HAVE ENOUGH SEAL TO BUILD PRESSURE UNDER NO LOAD OR BAD TORQUE CONVERTER CAN DO THE SAME THING

Sounds like you have either a stripped spline on an axle shaft or a broken CV joint on an axle. Take an have you vehicle inspected for an acurate diagnosis
