Wish I could give you the reference. I read a story some years ago now I think written by a man who was born blind and suddenly one day developed sight. He said he did not understand the sensation at first and had to identify familiar objects with his eyes closed before he could identify them through sight.

you are able to comprehend the concept of a few thing with no need first hand adventure with it. case in point, a blind individual would comprehend sight as being very equivalent to the contact over a distance. without sight, you are able to tell an merchandise's structure through feeling it. Sight is basically the flexibility to get that assistance at a distance without the will of retaining the article. A deaf individual possibly can get a good more beneficial properly understanding of the concept of listening to than a blind individual can of sight, considering listening to is basically only a severe sensitivity type of contact, or feeling. A deaf individual can experience vibrations inclusive of a truck rumbling down a street, or maybe the vibrations of a drum. listening to is basically the extrapolation of that sensation, or the flexibility to experience and differentiate a higher type of vibrations.

Watch the movie "Mask", from the 80's. It has Cher and Sam Elliot in it. The character Rocky explains sight to a blind girl- the best explanation I've ever heard. It is also a GREAT movie, based on a true story.

if a person is born blind, i dont think its possible for them to really understand what sight is, anymore that I could know what it means to have never had sight.

I always wondered if they can see pictures while dreaming like the rest of us. If yes, than that would give them a good sense of sight.

That's like asking how can stupid people understand what intelligence is.
Sight is a sense and just because some people can't see, doesn't mean that they aren't aware of objects and people around them.
