This has happened to me many times with massage therapists.

I look forward to and count on the massages for health maintenance.

Are massage people just more flakey than most?

Should I schedule 2 and just go to the one who actually shows up?

The weather was awful, somebody should have called though I think.

Yes, it's called common courtesy.

Given it was bad weather, maybe the phone lines were down in the area in which they were located and couldn't call.

My daughter is a massage therapist and she's booked solid everyday. She bought her a 4x4 just so she could get to her clients in bad weather, but their have been rare occassions that she couldn't get to them due to bad road conditions and road closures.

She always calls her clients and informs them why she can't make it and never makes up an excuse, she reschedules for the next day at the clients convienence.

Booking 2 massage therapists isn't a good idea, because they would be well within thier rights to charge you for the appointment session....

Massage therapists are not likely to be flakey people, it takes dedication to complete the training and perfect the technique. Alot goes into becoming a therapist, more than just the hands on type stuff.

You would be amazed at what they have to learn about the human body in order to pass their credentialing tests for their license.

You may be getting therapists that are untrained and unlicensed as they are the majority of those who actually do this for a living.

Sure they should call. Just as they should expect you to call.

There is nothing stopping therapists from acting unprofessionally.

Where are you getting the therapists and are they coming to you or are you going to them?

Going to a clinic or an office will reduce the chance of them not showing up. If they come to you and you have experienced many no shows, maybe you are giving off some kind of bad vibe that makes them think twice.

To find professional therapists near you, contact the AMTA (American Massage Therapy Association). They have a therapist locator service, free of charge.

Keep trying different therapists until you find one you like. The best way to get a referral from a Friend or your Dr.

And, yes, therapists tend to be flakier than most professionals but not all are flaky. They potentially have to deal with thinks like people looking for prostitution and other undesirable things.

Yes, they should have definitely called. They're supposed to be professionals providing a service and running their own personal business... jsut as anyone else in other businesses would call to cancel, in advance, they should too.

Yes, if they are professionals they should call. I suggest finding a new therapist.
