If a league has stolen bases and hits as a stat wouldn't Soriano be the best choice for the 1st pick.

OK, let me actually answer your question. Most leagues have SBs as a category. So, the real question is whether adding Hits makes Soriano a better pick. Soriano had 179 hits last year, Pujols had 177 - virtually no difference. I'd stick with Pujols!!

Soriano may have a career year this year, BUT he was in Texas (big lineup in a hitters park) before and never had a year like last year. I'd want more consistency from a #1 overall pick.

I think I just might take Soriano over Pujols. Pujols will have better power numbers, but Soriano's will also be up there and will be at least comparable. Don't forget that Soriano will be playing in cozy Wrigley Field, which should improve his power numbers.

And Soriano is a much better steals man than Pujols can dream of. Take Soriano.

Pujols should be the 1st pick in every draft. He is young and getting better and has proven to be able to produce even when he doesnt have a solid bat behind him. Love Soriano and no doubt he is a top fantasy source but other than stolen bases I cant see him outproducing Pujols in any other category. The other thing to consider is that Soriano just signed a monster deal and history is not on his side. Most top dollar free agents struggle in the first year of their deal and while Soriano has a track record of producing even on the move it creates enough doubt to let him slide anywhere from the 2nd pick to the 5th pick. And he is learning yet another new position. I would consider him 1st overall if he remained 2nd base eligible but that doesnt seem likely.

I'd Take Alfonso Soriano because although Albert Pujols Has Sensational Consistency and power with great average, Alfonso Soriano Could go 40/40 again with a solid 290 avg. and over 100 Runs Batted In and Pujols cannot Steal Bases although He is still a Great Player.

No. Pujols has to be 1st. I would give Soriano 2nd but Pujols CONSISTENLY has put up MVP caliber numbers. I mean a 1.102 OPS, 49 HR, 137 RBI, .331 AVG, 119 R...no doubt.

As for Sori, 06 was the first year he got 40 homers and the first year he put up a .900 OPS. He'll be a dominant fantasy force, but I don't think he's enough of a sure thing to be #1.

Godda stay with Pujlos... The guy is a monster... the lines will look like this

Pujlos 110 r 50 hr 140 rbi's 10 st BA .320
Soriano 110 r 40 hr 100 rbi's 45 st BA .295

So you will have similar run totals Pujlos will have about 10 more homers and about 40-50 more rbi's and a better batting average.

The only thing soriano will have will be Stolen bases.
so putting them up one against one in a h2h league
P 3-1-1
S 1-3-1

3 to one and a tie... So Pick Pujlos

I would pick up Soriano first ONLY if the league counted stolen bases. The problem with Soriano is the strikeouts. Pujols would be the safe bet though.

take pujols with the first pick and then pick up sizemore or another burner in the second round to compensate for the SB's. But overall Pujols is a much better player.

You have to take the 4 tool player in Soriano. There will be plenty of power hitters available. But there won't be many 40/40 guys period.
