Before postage got so expensive, I used to get and make all kinds
of these kinds of booklets = we called them SLAMS....and this site, especially THIS category, is like the SUPER DREAM SLAM that I always wanted to see happen on paper....long before I ever dreamed of having a computer or being on the internet....and so
this site - and this category - is SOOOO much fun for me!!!
I have a really good friend and she loves slams too and so I'm going to pass this question on to her ---
For those who have never heard of slams, they are based on the same principle really.
You take some loose-leaf paper, or a spiral notebook, and write a
good question on each page -- like many of these questions -- and pass it on to a friend and they answer it and put their name and address on the first couple of pages -- you have a sign in pg or two for everyone to write in their names -- and then the last to sign returns it to the person that it was made for and/or by.
I have really missed receiving and signing and making them so much in the past few years...and finding this site....and, as I said, especially THIS particular category....It brings it all back,..... :-)
I started doing slams back while I was still in junior high. The first one I got was at school. ...and when I got into pen palling and such, I would get them through the mail, and most of the slams I got and made were about the Beatles - favourite songs and such,
but I also got more slams with general interest questions like the ones here....
So I'm going to make up my own list like this....I had one made up but I don't know where I put it....
I always tried to imagine the SUPER SLAM and this site goes
so far beyond anything I could ever imagine......
Even if you all never heard of SLAMS, per se, this is what they
are, one question at a time....with any number of "signers" per question....and this is going beyond the u.s. ????? :-)
