How long is it possible for someone to hold a note?

The longest note held in recording history is held by Morten Harket of Norwegian band A-ha (Remember "Take On Me"?) He held a note for about 20 seconds in the single "Summer Moved On" from 2000...But does anyone know how long it's physically possible for someone to hold a note?
