God is perfect and just. We, His creation, are sinners, which breaks His law. Belief in His Son as Savior is what gets us out of the punishment that we do deserve. If God "did not believe in us", then He would simply banish us to hell, with full justification, and be done with us. I am eternally grateful that He does NOT do that. If I did not believe in Jesus as my Savior, I would deserve His punishment. I am a sinner, saved by grace.

What kind of question is that? It's complete contradictory. Does God punish someone for not believing in God? And you are asking this a believer or non believer in God? I mean if I don't believe in God how could I answer is it gonna punish me. And "God believes in us", is this a statement or what... Please!? Give me a break!

Most religions belive in a God who punishes non-believers. As for the other parts of your question, I think you're getting into symantic non-possibilities. If God is omniscient, then he wouldn't be able to doubt our existence. Also, it's not really possible to punish a being who has complete and total power over everything.
It's great to think in big and fascinating ways, but it looks like you're trapping yourself in illogical language loops.

I do not believe that God would punish us for not believing in him. I do think that our lives are better richer and have more meaning if we have faith and believe in him. We all are born with the right to be free agents and we are the sole and the direction of our own life. God will never leave us or forsake us the bible says, and those that cry out to him with an honest heart will be saved, although I do not believe that we are saved on word alone the bible again says that we are. I have a picture that hangs in our living room that describes it best. The sheep dog staninding over the fallen sheep with its head high calling for help. God does not over look the one he looks out for all of his chrildren.

No God does not punish people for not believing in him. God is constant. He loves you whether you are the best or the worst person ever.He loves us always. He is pure love he would never not believe in us. He is benevolent not cruel or vengeful. I think that you are told that God will punish you from the time that you are small to scare you. If you are told that it makes you never want to do anything that is not considered the norm. So take chances.

I know Christians who believe that as long as a person lives a good life and repents sin in their heart, it is good enough for heaven. For example some Christians believe that a buddhist can go to heaven if they are pious characters. Other more orthodox Christians believe that one must acknowledge that Christ died on the cross for our sins so that we may get to heaven, and if a willful acknowledgment of this fact is not made, you will not get to heaven. There are different schools of thought within Christianity, on the whole many Catholics believe that a person will enter heaven if they are good and do not directly insult god or the church.

Excuse me, but I don't care if He punishes and in what way and when. If I believe in God I have only to do His will, without asking me nothing else. People not believing in Him will be judged by Him, that is not our duty and preoccupation. Ciao.

God allows people to choose between Him and evil. He does not force us to choose to believe in him or , him, living in immorality, not seeking Him in prayer, not worshipping him.So he does not punish us for not believing in him. No matter what happens he will always forgive you and not punish you for anything. So the answer to your question is no.

God doesn't have to punish us...we do enough damage on our own. God practices tough-love. He loves us so much He allows us to make our own decisions about Him and our own mistakes, the consequences of our mistakes are punishment enough.

God punishing people for not believing in him is immature and childish...like spoiled little brat.
I am not religious but IF there was an all mighty god, then I would certainly hope that he/she/it is wiser than that.
