It sure looked like it! Those four "teeth" were awful lot like the 4 jaws of the bloodworm.

Since bloodworms are the larve of midges, that explains the swarms of giant midges.

Worms don't have teeth, so I don't think that this was a realistic species.

Maybe they were supposed to be giant dung worms.
