I am going to be a student at ODU (grad school) for three years starting this summer. I would like to live close to the beach, but somewhere where traffic is not horrible. I want to spend something around $500 a month or less for rent (I'll be a poor student). Can anyone suggest a good part of Norfolk or VA Beach to live for three years? Thanks!

around ODU rent is higher because its in city. you can find a lot of decent apartments (will need roommate) anywhere from oceanfront to Norfolk.
I used to live in VaBeach and lived about 5min driving from the beach and i have seen many apartments in the area and honestly i dont think there is a big difference in location.
party spots are either on the strip or downtown Norfolk.
i would suggest finding something just outside downtown Norfolk that way its not gona be that expensive and you wont have to drive far to get to ODU.

We lived in VA coastline for a pair years-to me it wasn't the final place in VA-i truthfully enjoyed the climate inland-Williamsburg, Frederick and between-there is so lots greater elegance a sprint farther in.
