What are your thoughts on the impact these three prospects will have on the Kansas City Royals.

1) Alex Gordon (3B)
2) Justin Huber (1B)
3) Billy Butler (OF)

I personally think that with Dayton Moore (former Braves GM for their great teams), these guys could be a solid core of a good young team to build around. With a little bit of speed added to the lineup, another power hitter (Butler & Gordon have good power) and an upgrade on the piching staff; I think the Royals can be contenders for the AL Central in a couple of years.

Let me know your thoughts and GO ROYALS!!

Vader - I agree with you 100% on Meche, there is no way he's worth 55 million

I'm probably very different. I see the Royals as a good sleeper team who could make .500. With Shealy, Gordon, Teahen, and Butler at the corners for outfield and infield, it's looking pretty decent for the Royals. All in all, the offense is actually pretty good (also with DeJesus and a healthy Mike Sweeney?), barring any major injuries. The pitching is still a problem, but if Hocevar can do well when called up, Meche does a little better than his career average, Bannister is decent, Elarton returns healthily, and Dotel returns to form, this team might surprise. Besides, in the A.L. Central, anything is possible! I mean, who say the White Sox and Tigers coming?

All the prospects are very good but thats just it,there prosprects. The Royals can't compete with the Indians,White Sox,Tigers, and Twins. In about 4 or 5 years I can see the Royals as legitimate contenders.I'd go as far to say if they continue to rebuild they can grab a WS title in 5 years.

It can happen. We'll see how things play out this year. I don't think a team can be as bad as the Royals were last year and be strong in just one year. In a couple years then they can be a contender if these young stars do well. They just need to make all the right moves.

The AL Central is a revolving door. WIth a good core of young talent they will make a turnaround in the next 2-4 years but Gil Meche wont help. he is a high priced hooker

They can definitely improve the team, but they're still not competitive with those guys on the team. Actually, even with those guys on top of their current team- they most resemble the Devil Rays: Good young hitting, not much pitching. That won't cut it unless the AL Central weakens a lot.

I don't know anything about those prospects, but as long as David Glass is in charge I just don't see the Royals having much success.
