one of my flatmates invited their friend over as it was there birthday to have a few drinks, had met them a few times, and thought though a little weird they didnt seem that bad, well that night i went to bed, and when i got up i found out he had stolen my car that night and crashed it the damage came to 400 euro. i said if he paid the damage we could just forget, he said ok initally but is now refusing to pay. Ive now found out he's already in alot of trouble with the cops for assaulting 3 cops, stealing 2 other cars, and for assaulting a girl outside a nightclub. The cops think i should press charges as he has been given so many chances and still ***** up. Im not going to get the money thats for sure and now im just pissed off, should i sign the statement and have him arrested?

vixy vixy vixy...we meet again.
I would nicely talk to this person or work out some sort of deal with him, tell him that you are trying not to press charges because you're feeling compelled about his troubles with the law (whatever you call it in Ireland), but if he doesn't come up with the money; of course give him a time frame for him to come up with the money, if he doesn't pay then press charges or have him arrested.

hell yes, no one told him to steal you car. and now he doesnt want to pay. you need to make an example of him and show him that this is not a game and that you dont appreciate what he did
