Last time I started it - it worked. I have the choke off - the throttle on high - and primed it several times. What does it mean - "to flood it"? If I flooded it, what can I do? I'm a woman - and have NEVER had to deal with this before. Got hit with a blizzard! HELP?

It it's even a little cold, you need the choke on, throttle anywhere you like. Leave the choke on until it tries to start and then put it about half way between on and off. The motors are idiosyncratic, so these are guides only.

to flood it means to get raw fuel into the combustion chamber. the raw fuel gets the spark plug wet causing the spark not to jump the gap between the electrodes on the plug. when starting a cold engine you should have the choke all the way closed (on) the throttle on high, try pushing the primer up to 10 times. If you think it might be flooded ( strong smell of gas) let it set for about 1/2 to 1 hour and try it again.

Two easy fixes are usually the culprit. If the machine worked correctly the last time you used it, try replacing the spark plug and/or the battery. Most stores that sell the equipment can test the battery for you.

Check to make sure the fuel and oil are full. Make sure the spark plug wire is securely on the plug. Follow the starting instructions.

Have you ever replaced the spark plug? They should be changed every year. If you have a spark plug wrench, pull the plug to see if the tip is clean or fouled with burnt oil.
