How to glue up a Tambour door?

Question

I have purchased 7 oz. canvas and want to glue oak slats which I have already machined onto the canvas to form the Tambour door. I am puzzled as to just which adhesive to use to do this job correctly, as ive spent a great deal of time machining the slats and down want to ruin the job.

i made a tambour door bread box and used contact cement. i brushed it on the canvas and the slats and waited a few minutes and pressed the canvas to the slats. added some flat weight and let it set...
