Let's see... You're trying to compare an online service to an operating system here. The operating system for apple computers is called Mac OS X. .mac is the integrated online service that apple offers that will work with your computer to store your preferences, user account, bookmarks, email, pictures, blog, etc online, so, when you buy a new computer, you can just log on to .mac and download (sync) your preferences from your old computer.
Meanwhile, as far as the OS's go, as a programmer, I would say that Mac OS X is superior. It's easier to program with, it's more stable and less needy (you can leave it on days on ends, and you won't have memory leaks, etc), and it's far more secure than what windows can ever churn out. As far as price goes, I spose, it is now comparable. The thing is, for what you pay you do get a dual core intel chip, a rather good video card (yes yes, I got the pro version), a webcam, 1-year warranty, DVD burner, etc, and if you try to compare a laptop with the same specs, I think you'd be better off with a mac.
Btw, windows vista already got security issues. With windows, you just have to know what to do, security-wise. Otherwise, well, you're just opening up yourself to some malicious... well, let's say, a misadventure would be more apposite.

A MAC is generally a lot more expensive than a regular PC equipped with the same hardware configuration. MAC users argue that they buy MAC computers because the mac can do video editing and stuff. But you can do the same thing with a PC only a lot more. So no mac is not better

wellit all depends mac is less tolerable to viruses(cant get them as easy) but windows is open to many more hardware and software that mac isnt because of the differnt type of processors my opinion is that if you are hoe or small business get a windows run pc but if its medium buisness big buisness get a mac or if you cant decide get the new macs that can run both windws and osx so your pc/mac will be open to millions of options personally i love windows vist but i also have a recent mac(got it from a friend for cheep) instead of buying new mac with both operating systems
