Yes. At night, in the absense of solar energy, they go into respiration just like animals, using oxygen, burning stored energy, and releasing carbon dioxide.

Plants and all other living organisms carry out cellular respiration. Plants need cellular respiration 24 hours a day because that's when they need energy for their cells. This is not a process that only occurs in the dark. Respiration breaks glucose and builds ATP molecules for cell's to use.

yes they do. but not specifically in the way that animal cells do. they use Co2 instead of oxygen so it seems impossible for it to happen exactly the same way.
