Some woman got told to move at a restaraunt because her breastfeeding was offending people...
Later, all the breast feeding mothers in the area went to lunch and whipped out there breasts and fed away...of course they were modest about it.
The only thing about breastfeeding that makes me uncomfortable is when the lady doesn't cover up.

I breastfed both my children in public. I didnt see why I shouldnt.
I breastfed at cafe's, restaurants, walking, as I shopped, on the bus, on the train, wherever and whatever I was doing I fed my kids when they needed it.
I only ever had positive reactions. I would get " how good that your breastfeeding", knowing smiles form other women.
The only problem I had was if I was sitting and nursing and had a blanket over my shoulder ladies would walk up and remove the blanket so they could see the baby. That was really uncomfortable for me, so I soon lost the blanket as there was no point to it. I was even told off by the manager of a restaurant once because I'd put a sarong over the baby while I nursed, he was scared I was suffocating the baby. I had to explain that I was nursing, but in his culture nursing women didnt cover up as it was a natural thing.
I only ever had a few men that got some sick pleasure out of watching me nurse but that was easily solved by my BF asking them whether or not they had seen a baby eat before. They would be shamed and walk away
I dont see whats wrong with breastfeeding in public. Unlike adults babies have no concept of time and if they are hungry they are hungry NOW not in 10 or 20 minutes when it is easier or in a more appropraite place for the mother. everyone else is allowed to eat in drink in public so why should a helpless infant not be allowed to?
Its not the same as walking around topless, and you see less of a breast when a child is attached to it then you would on a woman that wears a low cut top.

I have breastfed EVERYWHERE
I have breastfed in the park when it was 10 below. I feed at the bookstore, coffee shop, guitar store, mall, grocery store. I breastfed my baby while filling out the paperwork to buy a stove.
I have never used a nursing room, though I did nurse in a change room once. Mostly just because I was already trying on clothes and there was a chair. Sitting is good!
Mostly people don't notice. The few people who have because they have come over to see the new baby sleeping only to realise his eyes are open because he is feeding just say how nice it is.
And I never use a blanket for one thing my son won't stand for it. For another using a blanket just draws attention to what you are doing.
Anyone that has a problem with breastfeeding in public should go into therapy, there is nothing more natural than a baby being fed.

i have were given 3 little ones below 5 yrs old. All have nursed in public if we are out even as they were given hungry. maximum situations i'm strolling round with the newborn in a sling, and that i placed on nursing tops, so that's really elementary to in elementary words provide up lengthy adequate to get them latched on and resume. If we are in an area that has comfortable chairs or summer time furniture, i am going to take great thing about that although - those glider swings are so comfortable ! Reactions - i have been offered chairs and beverages, had some older human beings tell me how outstanding it really is to work out a toddler fed "top", and far of smiles. not in any respect had a negative reaction from all and sundry.

I have never had a baby but i deffinatly have seen what the public think about this!!! Most people dont agree with this. I think that it should be ok as the baby is a human being and everyone else needs to eat!! So what is so wrong about a baby being fed??? Fair enough people will get offended when your flashing yourself about for the world too see, but when a women is covering up (which is very easily done!) there is NOTHING wrong with it!!!!

Women should be able to breastfeed anywhere as babies do not care where they are - if they are hungry they have to eat. There's something to consider though:
Unless you really enjoy the attention - cover up as much as possible, there are lots of freaks and pervs around!!
I have breastfed my baby until he was 10 months old and I've been out of the house alot - so I had to breastfeed in many places. If you set up properly - you can do it virtually anywhere, and no need to go into filthy bathrooms, etc.
I have never had any problems. And if somebody does offer you to go feed your baby in the bathroom - offer them to have their lunch in there instead.
Babies have priority I'd say :))

I never got too comfortable with feeding in public, but I did do it when my baby was hungry and crying and I didn't want to dash off to the restroom for half an hour. I fed him discretely at a table in a family restaurant, and at the airport and on a plane when we traveled when he was young. One of my sister in laws (older woman, no kids) seemed fairly disgusted by it. I have had a lot of positive response from other moms. I always felt that it was less disruptive for me to raise my shirt up a bit than to have my son SCREAM at the top of his lungs. My girlfriends and I would hang out in the lounge at Macy's when we would go shopping, almost every Macy's has a nice ladies room with a lounge area.

I think its sad that you even have to ask this question. But in this society, unfortunately I have heard some people are offended.
I think this is absurd! I am expecting my first baby in May and I intend to exclusively breast feed for the first 6 months of her life. And I don't plan on sitting at home cooped up in the house for 6 months either. I will take the subway, go to coffee shops and restaurants, go to the mall and to the park, etc.
If the baby gets hungry and demands food when I am out with her, then I will feed her, and that means offering my breast. I hope I don't get negative responses, but I fear I will.

I breastfed in a restaurant once and the waiter was so oblivious to what I was doing that he actually touched my baby's face trying to get a better look at her - then was so embarrassed when he realized she was turned that way for a reason - very funny really. That type of thing happened more than once, so it can be done discreetly and I obviously think it is fine. The kid had to eat and I sure got tired of nursing in a dingy old lavatory just trying not to offend someone.

i never have as I can;t breastfeed, but my friend has and i have been with her. There is always a mixed reaction. Should women breastfeed in public? Sure, they are able to cover up easily, and when you have a child and your breasts are their food source then when that child is hungry that breasts should and will come out.
