1. I have the attachment on the bottom, the USB cord, but no cord to recharge it. Do I need a special cord from the company, or can I get something at Radio Shack?

I HAVE the USB cable.
I DON"T HAVE the recharging cable.

Rinkrat is correct. The USB is charging it when I hook it to the PC.

It recharges with the USB cable. Just like iPods, Zunes, and a lot of other devices.
You CAN buy a wall charger or car charger for it, but it doesn't come with them and you don't need them unless the battery is totally 100% dead when you first take it out of the box, and then sometimes the USB connection can't give it that first little bit of charge to get it going.
And as with almost everything sold today, you can get the manual online.

What you could do is just go to ebay.com, and SEARCH "USB for Zen Vision M"
Might not be the same exact one like it came with, but you wont need that adapter anymore.
