Scheduling laws?

I am not looking for attacking answers, like just quit if you dont like the job, you need to realize when you have a family to support how hard that is. I am looking for a simple yes or no answer.

Is it legal to schedule a person to work 1pm-9pm say Monday and then Tuesday expect them to work 5am-1pm?

Yes, that is very legal. You must confront your boss and let him or her know you cannot work the night shift and then come to work in the morning the next day unless you get my approval before you schedule me.
