This website has alot of answers on natural dyes, and also some ways to get purple from other plants. I use salt alot, but I'm sure there are ways to get better or brighter colors. You might have to experiment with your fabric ans dyes. Cheers!

Ordinary Hydrogen Peroxide has been used for centries to fix the natural dye agent indigo. Try it onto a sample by first application of the indigo then wait a day and carefull spray, NOT SOAK the dyed fabric with a mist of Hydrogen Peroxide.

You can purchase a dye fixative (do a web search on "dye fixative" and you'll find some) or you can use vinegar. I've read that equal parts vinegar and water will set the dye without harming the fabric, though I've never tried it myself.
