Honestly with the above fish. I'd buy a bigger tank. Your current tank is too small for the adult size of these fish.

an african butterfly fish needs a minimum 10-15 gallon, but thats just for him. and he'll eat any fish under 2"

what kind of gouramis do you have? (gouramis not grammies). same with loaches. theres several different types that grow to different sizes. i don't know any i'd really willingly keep in anything less than a 15 gallon though, active fish. and loaches need to be in groups, some grow to 3" some grow to 12" so the type you have is kinda important!

either way, your stocking isn't so hot for a 10 gallon, and adding something aggressive should be the last thing on your mind as loaches are fairly peaceful. and you should consider either getting a bigger tank or rehoming what you have.

I think you may want a bigger tank... a general fresh water rule is 1 inch of fish per gallon of water. Fish tend to be more agressive in a small tank than they are in a bigger one. The African is compatible with most things its size or bigger, but is more comfortable with fish that don't inhabit the top of the tank like they do. Loaches are compatible with Mollies, Swordtails, Barbs, Danios, Rainbowfish, Gouramis, other Loaches, Cichlids of similar size, Plecos and Scavenger Catfish and really need about a 30 gallon tank when they get bigger. I'm not sure what a grammie is but if you meant Gouramis they are compatible with most of the same fish as the Loach. Just don't get anything much smaller than the fish you have or they will be munched on.

A good place to look at the compatibility is www.peteducation.com, they have most common fish there... the African is not on their list though. Also, petco.com also has some fish care sheets that might help.

I hope this helps

I think you should rethink having the fish you mentioned in a 10 gallon to begin with...far too small...

Agressive fish? Puffers are quite agressive, and you can get them as fresh water. Non agressives....swordtails, and plecos. Well, plecos can be agressive, as well.

Convict cichlids are aggressive(maybe too aggressive). If you get these fish, get only one. You you pair two together they will start breeding and KILL all the fish that get in their way.

You are overstocked. Don't get anything else.
