Okay, i'm not sure what is wrong but this has been happening for the last 1 month. First, when i bought my new fish tank, i let is sat for 1 week or so. Then 3 weeks later, i put my first betta in (my other fishes died of diseases). but all my male betta ever does is swim really fast against the glass, and keeps on doing that 24/7 he only stops when i come to feed him. I knew something was wrong with the tank so i changed all the water and changed the betta, i put my female in later, but she does the samething. So i changed the water again and waited 3 days before i put my male in again (i took the female out) but it didn't get any better, he is still swimming really fast against the glass like if he is trying to get out. Then 2 days later, my ghost shimp died, i noticed it is because it stops moving or moving very slowly. Now i know something is VERY wrong with the tank, i did everything but nothing helps AHHHH! HELP ME!

Bettas are also known as Siamese Fighting fish. When they see a reflection of themselves either on your tank glass or if you hold a mirror in front of them their colors will become quite bright and they will attack what they think is another betta. Usually you should only keep one male and 2 or 3 females in the same tank....Try positioning your aquarium light towards the back of the tank..it might cut down on the reflection.. Hope this helps...

Sorry to hear of your troubles, firstly you never change all of the water in such a quick succession you destroy the good bacteria which has built up during the initial set-up stages, 50% is the max.Secondly as the other good people have stated you cannot mix cold & tropical species together you get diseases.Betta Splendens will always attack their own reflection, hence the trick with a mirror to sort out healthy males from poor one's.The other thing is, you do not say whether you are using declorinater, here in the U.K our water is treated with chlorine or chlorimine this is deadly to fish & can attack the protective slime on a fish causing disease & other problems. Other than that I cannot think of any other reason why your fish keep dying without going into the problem in more detail.Good Luck tho'

sometimes bettas swim like crazy fish if they have a small current from the filter. sometimes they just swim like crazy fish anyway. you shouldn't expect a betta be act the same in 10 gallons as he does in a 1 gallon bowl.

if you are really worried you can get a test kit to check for ammonia and nitrites. if the water smells bad you know its ammonia anyway.

ther is nothing wrong with your tank but how big is the tank it sounds like your changing your water way too much the nitrogen cycle needs to set in once that happens your fish will calm down

the fish sees its reflection and thinks its another Betta and attacks it, Betta's are also known as fighting fish. most people put them in round aquariums because there is little or no reflection

Betta fish always run into the glass. They see the reflection of themselves, and they dislike of it, and attack. I'd get the water tested...but first off, Ghost Shrimp and Bettas cant be together. Ghost Shrimp are salt water shrimpies, as far as I know.

OK ITS NOT YOUR TANK ITS THE FISH ...YOU CANT MIX WARM WATER FISH (GHOST SHRIMP) WITH TAP WATER FISH LIKE THE BETTA......

AND YOUR BETTE WILL ATTACK ANYTHING THAT IS MOVING (LIKE A FISH OR REFLETION) THEY MUST NOT BE REFLECTIONS IN TANKS OR ANY OTHER FISH!
