Well that is not true. In the south we have many black leaders on the local and state levels that are doing a great job. And they are accepted. It is time to stop seeing color and start seeing humans (Americans)

Unfortunately, I would have to agree with you. The voting block in the South right now is the older Southerners who lived during the 1950's and 60's. Agreed the fact stands that places in the South have elected African Americans, but the level isn't on the Presidential level. I would like nothing more than Obama to get the Presidency, because I think he has a lot to add, but the states where he would have to carry, wont vote for him. I am being a realist. If Obama does get the nomination, I will vote for him, but one vote isn't enough.

If you currently live in the South, then you have no doubt noticed the huge influx of Yankees...There might be enough Northerners AND Democrats down here soon to accept even Hillary as President. But then again I'm just stereotyping - as are you. And I don't like being stereotyped as a racist just because I am from the South...

Some people answering these question are not too smart. Not sure when Florida and Texas did not count in elections? Idiot power aside.

As far as racism, I think whites are more tolerant of blacks in the south than vice versa. The black males pretty much hate us (except our daughters), but we do not lower ourselves to that level. I am from the South and I would vote for the right black candidate. We are in a battle to restore our Republic to a free State that it once was. Race cannot be a factor in determining who can do that.

Virginia had a black governor, the kids coming up aren't as redneck as the last few generations. Also, the South isn't really needed to elect a President. But I kind of doubt there will a Black running in 2008 whne it gets down to the nominees.

I live in the Ozarks and I see your kind frequently. You fly your rebel flags on your old worn out pick up trucks, guzzle your cheep beer, you have tobacco juice dripping from the corner of your mouths, and deal with your anger by beating your wives, but you are only deluding your self if you think for a minute that your kind represent the south. My bet would be that you have never voted in your life, and never will.

I am from the deep south but have long since moved past the race issue. FYI, the civil war ended almost 150 years ago. Grow up, get an education and move on to more intelligent issues. (P.S., I'm voting for Obama as are many other southerners. Sorry to burst your bubble.)

There are more KKK and Neo Nazi groups In California than in ALL of the southern states. As many EC votes as California has, we will never get a black president at least by your ignorant supposition.

Why not a black president? I am curious what your reasoning is.

It can't be that you are still in a dither over losing the Civil War, can it?

It is a good thing people like you have the south to blame for everything otherwise you might have to learn something.
