Firstly never put two male g.p's together, they will fight endlessly,i have 28 pigs and this has happened to me a few times, some give birth to unusually large babies this is why she prolapsed, sometimes its the stresses and strains of giving birth, theres really nothing you can do to prevent it apart from getting them spayed, which you,ve done,i dont advise putting the babies back in with dad,if they are male, again when they reach sexual maturity they will fight, dad will live quite happily with the babies if they are female, but will mate with them once they are old enough, this can result in deformities of the offspring, hope this helped. The babies incidently will be fine on their own, they are self sufficient from birth.good luck.

You dont say how old they were, not sure if this is relevant. You should not breed a female guinea pig after 10 months if she has never had a litter before. After 10 months the pelvic bones fuse and cannot expand easily. This may not be what happened but it did happen to a guinea pig I had.

Nothing you could have done about it its just one of those things.
Better to keep males separate from females rather than have them snipped. The male could kill the young ones if you return them so be careful.
There are some good GP web sites you can look at for care advice just Goole and you will find some nice people who will help you.

My main advice is to sex the babies before putting back with the dad, he will mate with any females & it will all start again!! It is very easy to sex guineas, just look in a book or i'm sure a website will have the relevant info!

Don't put those baby's with the dad unless you know for sure they are male.

You may end up with a house full of guinea pigs if you aren't careful.
