I am missing my 4x4 big time live by alot of snow with a 4x2 , and i get stuck in my own driveway- , why are they rear wheel drive ? it would be fine if the truck was front wheel drive like my car? do they make front wheel drive trucks? guess it dont matter I dont have one

It's rear because rear wheel drive is better for pushing cargo.

A rear wheel drive truck that isnt being used for cargo in winter time, anyone can tell you that's a bad idea. Best bet is to buy some sandbags and throw them in the back.

They make trucks rear wheel drive because they are made for hauling things and towing trailers and such. Also Volkswagen back in the 70's and 80's built a front wheel drive truck called a rabbit truck, but it was small and looks like a mini El Camino.

The Honda Ridgeline is a front wheel 4x2 drive truck. Several others have been built, the VW Rabbit Pickup, the Dodge Omni Pickup, the Subaru Brat....

Mostly because the two wheel drive trucks are meant to carry loads or tow trailers, putting most of the weight on the rear then.

Dodge used to make a front wheel drive pickup. It was the D50 and it was not very popular so they changed it to rear wheel drive.

Big trouble with it was that when loaded no traction because all the weight was on the rear tires. It also made steering when loaded squirrelly. especially on wet roads..

Ever seen a big truck with front wheel drive?? No. Pickups suck in the snow. Next time buy a car.

You can buy FWD trucks but only a small one! In Europe Volkswagen make the Caddy also available as a Skoda. Ask your VW dealer if they are availale in the USA.

because fwd truck wouldnt make any sense and when you tow things youd grip better if it was fwd the tires are to far from the trailor
