I have always used a small amount of Dove dishwashing liquid diluted with warm water. It does very well.

Just regular Amonia is added to clean water and used to clean commercial windows on sky rise buildings and in Residential Homes. Along with an applicator cleaning brush and a squegee to remove water and residuals.

You wouldnt want to use dishwater detergent, that unrinsed leaves a residue, Amonia on the other hand totally evaporates, every last molecule of it, and doesnt leave a residue.

Furthermore, Cost is a factor here If you clean a lot of windows, the amonia will do the best job and be relatively inexpensive verses any kind of a detergent.

oh my, you are asking a big question...
i have cleaned for over 10 years now and all windows/mirrors are different..depending on type and cost of window plays a lot in to how to clean them..i have tried vinegar diluted with water...works pretty good, but heck on stainless finishes..
hard to do the dish soap mixtures cause never really sure how much to use... this is a try it and see if it works type of situation, and you have to factor in weather conditions, type of windows, how far off the ground, etc, etc etc...cleaning is lots of trials and errors, start with your windows and try different things..but squeegy is a great thing to own...and a good pressure washer, but do NOT use the small tip...will cut the glass..seen it happen..
do lots of research in your town and go from there...local dealers will be glad to help you out, but if they offer a type of cleaner, buy the smallest available...good luck
