Maybe what you feel for your girlfriend now reminds you of your sweetheart. Or maybe you subconsciously feel like you have "unfinished business" with your childhood sweetheart, like if you never found out if she liked you back.
If you want to make a deeper commitment somewhere down the road (like marriage), just make sure you know which girl is the one you really want to marry.
